Hi, I’m Amy.

It’s nice to meet you.

One of my greatest hopes for the Girl Talk Podcast and this blog is that they feel less like a Bible lesson and more like a conversation between friends.

You know the kind.

The kind where you sit down with a cup of coffee, and before long you’re talking about life. Maybe you’re laughing so hard tears are running down your face because someone remembered a funny story. Or maybe the tears come because one of you shares a struggle you’ve been carrying, or something God has been teaching you that has completely changed your perspective.

That’s what I hope you’ll find here.

I don’t want this to be another place where you feel overwhelmed or like you have to have everything figured out. I want it to be a place where we can be honest about life, encourage one another, and open God’s Word together. Sometimes we’ll talk about the hard things. Sometimes we’ll celebrate the victories. Sometimes we’ll simply share what God has been teaching us in our quiet time that week.

That’s why we call it Girl Talk.

It’s simply friends getting together to talk about life, faith, struggles, victories, and the God who faithfully walks with us through every season.

If someone had told me in my twenties that one day I’d be writing books, teaching Bible studies, speaking at women’s conferences, and co-hosting a podcast with my daughter, Sarah, I probably would have laughed.

That wasn’t the life I imagined.

I didn’t become a Christian until I was 26 years old, and meeting Jesus changed everything. Looking back, I can see how faithfully God was writing my story long before I ever recognized His hand in it.

For almost 28 years, I’ve been married to my husband, and for the last 25 years I’ve had the privilege of serving as a pastor’s wife. Along the way, I’ve experienced infertility, walked through seasons that stretched my faith, chased toddlers, changed diapers, homeschooled, navigated the teen years with my two daughters, walked through devastating betrayal and hurt, seved in every capacity possible in the church my  and learned that God’s presence is often most evident in the moments we never would have chosen.

One of the biggest lessons He’s taught me is that the Christian life isn’t about performance—it’s about relationship.

As a recovering people pleaser and perfectionist, I spent years believing I had to earn approval. Even after I became a Christian, I often approached my walk with God like a checklist, wondering if I was doing enough or measuring up. I still have moments when I slip back into that mindset.

But God has patiently shown me something better.

He’s shown me that He isn’t asking me to perform for Him. He’s inviting me to know Him.

That truth changed the way I read my Bible, the way I pray, the way I serve, and the way I teach.

It’s also the heartbeat behind everything I do.

My passion is to make growing closer to God feel possible. It breaks my heart when I see women become overwhelmed because they added their walk with God to their already long to do list. The end result of this approach is always the same – a woman who quietly gives up ‘trying’ because all the ‘doing’ wears her out.  I want you to know that you really can grow.  You really can change. You really can experience victory—not because you’ll ever be perfect, but because God is faithful.

You’ll never hear me pretend I’ve arrived. I’m still learning. I’m still growing and I’m still on the struggle bus some days. But I’m making progress, and that’s what I want for you too.

I want you to fall in love with a God who is already so deeply in love with you. I want you to discover that following Jesus is about so much more than going to church or checking off spiritual boxes. It’s about knowing His heart, walking with Him daily, and finding joy in a relationship that changes everything.

Outside of ministry, I love shopping, throw pillows, creating beautiful spaces, planning women’s events, and dreaming up resources that help women take their next step with Jesus. I’m an open book, I love to laugh, and I genuinely believe some of the best conversations happen when women gather around a table with coffee and enough time to be real.

So whether you’re reading a blog post, listening to an episode of Girl Talk, or joining me in a Life Group class, or at a conference, I hope you’ll feel like you’ve pulled up a chair at the table.

There’s always room for one more.

Welcome, friend. I’m so glad you’re here.

We want to hear from you
